Publicists
What is a publicist and how can a publicist help you as an up and coming artist or band? A publicist is a person who has the task of promoting artists and bands. Publicists are also responsible for creating and maintaining an artist or bands public image to encourage interest and increase album sales.
A publicist has the experience, knowledge and connections necessary to effectively promote artists and bands. They make use of various media to do this. Types of media publicists use include magazines, internet, radio and television. Publicists prepare press releases, contact media personnel, schedule interviews etc. to ensure the greatest media exposure.
Staff publicists are those individuals who work for a record label as permanent staff. Alternatively artists and bands may have their own publicists. These two groups of publicists may collaborate on certain promotional projects.
A publicist is the key to getting your band/music recognised.
