Rochester International Jazz Festival
Jazz enthusiasts living in New York will already be aware of the Rochester International Jazz Festival. This great annual event has been taking place regularly since it was established in 2002. The festival is held in Rochester, New York, at a number of different venues in the downtown area. Some of the more regular venues for the Rochester International Jazz Festival are: the Eastman Theatre, the Kilbourn Hall (Eastman School of Music), a church, a large tent and a number of clubs that can be easily reached on foot from Jazz Street (Gibbs). There are also a number of free concerts which are held on three different outdoor stages.

Hardcore, metal, hard rock and Goth metal fans living in the U.S. will already be familiar with the Jägermeister Music Tour. This exciting tour has already been taking place twice a year for the past six years and the tour this spring is set to be louder, heavier and darker than ever before. The tour is sponsored by Jägermeister liqueur, which many consider to be one of the top commercial supporters of this kind of music.
Apple Celebrates Black Music Month
Hip-hop and R&B are two music genres that enjoy a sense of relaxed rhythm. It is this rhythm which flows through the listener and encourages movement and dance in a truly sensational way. This is just one aspect of the incredible musical heritage that has been given to the world by African-Americans. In celebration of this fact, June has been designated “Black Music Month” in the U.S. since 2002, although it was only last year that President George Bush made it official. The event aims to recognize the significant contribution that African-American singers, composers and musicians have made to the nation’s history. During the month a number of different events are organized and citizens are urged to revel in a variety of music genres, from hip-hop to gospel.
Bo Diddley’s Lasting Legacy
Often credited with being a key figure in the transition from blues to rock and roll, Bo Diddley (30 December 1928 - 2 June 2008) introduced powerful rhythms and a hard-edged guitar sound to the music world, spanning the racial divide between black and white music lovers. Readily recognized for his black Stetson hat, dark-rimmed glasses and rectangular guitar, Bo Diddley’s innovative approach to music had a far-reaching influence on many of today’s music genres.
Unforgettable Moments at Glasto
The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts, more commonly referred to as Glastonbury or simply Glasto, is set to take place from 27 to 29 June 2008, and revelers can’t wait for the festivities to begin. Situated at Worthy Farm, between the villages of Pylle and Pilton east of the town of Glastonbury in Somerset, England, this event is considered to be the world’s largest greenfield music and performing arts festival, drawing musicians, performers and fans from far and wide to enjoy three days of fun and entertainment.
